Just as parenting is not a competitive sport, neither is learning to read. If your child’s school has a reading scheme and you can see that other children are ahead of or behind your child, it can worry a parent. There is a wide range of reading achievement that still fits within the boundaries of normal and appropriate progress. If there is a learning difficulty, the teacher will let you know. If you are worried, speak to the teacher to ask about your concerns.
