A Big Emotional Response Shows that a Child is Very Affected by an Issue even if it Seems Trivial to You

Children’s arguments can seem trivial, petty and silly and we can fail to see why on Earth they seem to be so hugely important to them. Take a moment to step into your child’s shoes though and to ask, guess or work out why they are so bothered by it. Note that their emotional response to it is pretty big, so the issue is pretty big to them. This will help you to feel less irritated by them ‘making a big deal out of it’ and help you to help them sort it out more effectively. It might even be that you realize that they are just hungry, tired or need a break from each other for a while.
