My 8 year old son was suffering with extreme anxiety and had a real problem with going to school. My son had always refused any form of help, and would not talk to adults at all about what was worrying him, which I thought was compounding his problem.

After a few sessions with Tara, he became reassured that it was possible  to communicate with adults and he even realised that to talk about his issues would be beneficial for him. That was as a result of Tara's perseverance, good humour and kind, supportive manner.

I will be forever grateful to Tara for guiding both me and my son through a really difficult period, and as a result of her intervention, we are doing really well now.

S, Mum to the very smart boy with a great sense of humour that is spoken of here.

    Play IS a Child’s Work

Play, play, play, play, play, play, play. Play is a child’s work at this time in their life. Our job is not to cram their heads with knowledge as we would cram a chicken to make chicken liver pâté. Our job is to surround them with conversation, books, experiences and free time to play as […]

  • The Mum I am. the Mum I'm Not

The Kind of Mum I am; the Kind of Mum I’m Not.

I could waste a lot of  time and effort worrying about the kind of mum I’m not. I’m a bit of a poor housewife. I don’t iron anything, ever. I clean my house minimally and mostly if people are coming. I used to do it properly, but have lowered it’s place in the priority list […]

Pantomime- it’s much better than sprouts at Christmas.

As a child, pantomime wasn’t part of our family Christmas traditions. We went to the cinema and theatre but never to pantomime. The first time I ever went was a 19 year old, with my then boyfriend and his family, as they did go, every year on Boxing Day. It mustn’t have been a great [...]

So Much of a Child’s Life is Spent at School For over six hours a day, on five days a week, for thirty nine weeks of the year, the majority of UK parents entrust the care of their children to the school system and its teachers and support staff. Education is deemed to be a […]
